Stalling/Poor Accelleration

Featured Replies

Hi, I've recently bought a 2001 Fabia 1.4 8V. When I'm pottering around locally it is a fantastic car, but when I have to drive for longer periods of time (45min or so) sometimes it will stall when idling at a junction and then afterwards have really poor acceleration for a while. But if I park, leave it for 5-10 min and then restart it, it runs fine again unless I happen to go for a long time again.

could it be something simple like a faulty sparkplug, before I end up spending a fortune at the garage? or something else?

It just seems a bit weird to me as it doesn't happen all the time, only if I drive for a long period of time.

Someone suggested a dodgy egr valve but one mechanic I spoke to says my car shouldn't have one, he thinks they're only on the 16V.

Start by getting the car on diagnostics see if there are any fault codes.

I'd do plugs then replace the coil pack.

Also try unplugging the maf see if it makes a difference.
