Hello and advice please.

Featured Replies

Hello all, My name is Dave and I live in the north east of England and im thinking of getting a Octavia 2.0 vrs on a 06 plate, Now when I checked it over the near side headlight is not sitting straight it sits further back at the wing side and is a little further forward from the grill side. So im wondering if this can be a big problem or has it move of its mounts, The current owner told me he hit post in a car park at slow speed and it moved the light. There is only a slight scuff on the bumper which im preety sure will come out easy and all the panels around the light seem untouched and in line. Any advice would be great.

 Cheers Dave, (Tatt)

Welcome.

Probably worth asking in the mk2 Octavia section, you'll get a  faster response

hi dave, moved thread to octavia 2 section, more likely to get a response in here

Could have broken the mounts/sliders. I seem to remember a post on here somewhere when someone hit an animal which looked to have caused no damage other than the headlight out of alignment. However it kept going out of line and it turned out once the headlight was removed and everything investigated the plastic mounting tray had been damaged but it wasn't noticeable.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Hi mate have you a picture of it, as you pop the headlight out in these easily it might just be a case that it hasnt popped back into place properly, I fitted HIDs to my 08 Octy the other night and took me ages to get the light to pop back into its place correctly. Where the light clips into place could also be broke if it was someone a bit rough with taking them out/ putting them in.

The other side of thing is if he hit a pole and the scuff is still on the bumper and the scuff matches his story as it looks like a scuff from a light pole or that i'd say he is telling the truth, you wouldnt go to the hassle of repairing crashed car and leave a dirty scuff on the bumper.

Hope this helps

Gareth

Ive bought the car after checking the front end carefully and apart from the scuff and the headlight not been in he correct position every thing seem s fine, The car drives spot on decent service history recent cambelt. Plus a remap done at Sedox Performance UK, print out reads 254 bhp with 290 ftlb of torque. Going over to my friends garage tonight to get the front end under cover and have a go at the headlight so fingers crossed it comes out ok.

Well I was lucky got the headlight out and there was no damge to the fittings on the lamp, The mounting bracket had moved back on its mounts so after slackening 3 torque screws and a few mins adjustment the headlight lines up perfect again so well pleased with the result.
