strange behaviour from CD

Featured Replies

Having downloaded my first "evaluation" album from the web as an MP3 I used Nero to burn it to audio CD. I checked that it played OK in the PC before trying it in the Octy standard CD changer.

Track 1 played OK as I drove to the shop but half way through track 2 is started jumping, I skipped to track 3 and it jumped. On the way back I started track 2 again and it played fine, as did track 3.

This time track 4 started jumping and it seems once it has jumped the only way to stop it is to play another disc or power off/on.

Any ideas what could be causing this? The CD changer plays all other CD's including copies on the same brand CDR with no jumping what so ever.

Try reducing the speed at which you are recording it maybe? I have a 52x recorder but do all mine at just 16x. It doesn't take long and I get a good success rate.

Also try a different or better quality blank, as my head unit plays some disks perfectly, yet some cheaper ones jump if i run over a fag end.

Problem solved by burning at x12 (slowest possible for me) rather than x32

What make media were they, Phil? I burn all mine at 48x and never had a problem in my Ford or Alpine CD changers :D Perhaps your changer is just complaining at your appalling taste in music ;)

MondeoMan: The jumping version is on a Maxell CDR. I've used these before with no problems. I'm sure it's down to the burn speed.
