Broken headlight, warning/indication?

Featured Replies

Today a friend told me that my headlight had a broken lightbulb. Which i was very suprised to find since i was expecting the Fabia to give me a heads up if a light bulb broke, which it has not done..

According to my manual there is a warning light for broken bulbs and it also states that my maxidot display should show where the broken lightbulb actually is located also.

But im not sure if its just my manual that is wrong or if that actual feature is not working on my car OR if the fabia doesnt really have the feature that the manual states.

So please help me, does the Fabia 5J with maxidot give out some kind of warning if a lightbulb go out?

Mine did when the headlamp bulb went (when I hit the Boar) - but didn't when the DRL failed on one side.  Warning text on the Maxidot and the yellow "Bulb" light on the dash.  Mine's a vRS, so has projectors - not sure if it applies to the others?

I had a sidelight out and the warning came up, nothing on the maxi though. I have a 2013 Monte tech.

I think my warning light only showed on start up, it didn't stay on all the time. That was a failed DRL. It was intermittent, as was fixing the fault - three fuses later, it worked again.

I have have had a previous drl fault which was caused by water getting in to the plug for the drl.

When i removed the previous drl the water getting in, had caused the middle pin to snap on the drl. I now have another going to fail, i know this as they have stopped dimming down when sidelights or driving lights selected on dial.

Is this worth bringing this up with customer services as this is now 2 drl that have gone faulty in the last year.

Also on a previous note, due to the cold weather i'm heating the car for a short period of time being driving and i'm starting to get the engine light flashing on the dash, i have tried looking for fault code but unable to find anything, and there seems to be no misfiring (maybe i'm in house and missing that period). My car is 2011 just turned 23k and original plugs, i took them out a while back and looked fine, maybe i should give them another going over? I'm not getting (possible) misfiring at any other time

Possibility of Spark Plugs needing changed, especially where you have had a Tuning Box on,

but not necessarily, as others have gone OK to 40,000 miles.

Yet some fail before 25,000 miles

You would not necessarily feel a misfire until giving it full beans, and no fault code might show.

You might not feel it, but you do not want it going off one cylinder while on Turbo.

?? Are you getting better than 95 ron fuel all the time, and do you have the Intake System on just now?

Are you just sitting with it running to defrost the windows?

The Engine light can flash,

it is the Emission light, and sitting with the engine running rich it soots up, and the light can flash.

Sometimes with the Spark plugs you might get the EPC light (Electronic Power Control) and then the Engine Emission Light.

I was running box but sold a long time ago, i know a few have failed before the recommend change of 40k, i checked them about 5k ago. I'm only getting this engine light appear during the warming up of the car (left on drive not moving) I ain't getting any misfire when driving.

I'm only getting hold of gold old 95 :(, feels like i am stuck in the bloody stone age. This was the main reason i ended up getting rid of box as i knew i wasn't getting the full potential. Only running intake. Getting average of 35mpg.

I am pretty regular hear and don't remember reading anyone having similar problems with their drl's, maybe a couple don't notice this fault

You can get rough cold starting & running with 95 ron, and the Engine Light can come on when it soots up sitting running

for a few minutes.

Then a nice blast out the exhaust when you boot it.

I would still change the spark plugs for all they cost.

If the second plug from the Drivers side oils up or burns out it is a major incident.

Did you have all 4 plugs out when checking?

Yea had all four out, due to amount of times its mentioned in posts to check all four, will had to find ma coil pack remover tool now, hehe

payday i might invest in some new plugs, i was really surprised by the good condition they were in when i checked considering i am running 95
