Poor Radio Reception (Stream)

Featured Replies

I have a 06 Octavia with the standard Stream head unit, rear mounted CD changer and antenna.

Despite setting everything up in the menu re reception and doing the test to check the antenna amp is on I have trouble receiving some FM stations and AF doesn't seem to function.

I had a Sony head unit in my previous car which had far superior reception.

Could it be a simple fix like a poor connection somewhere or is that particular unit known to be gash unless the signal is full strength?

when i was using my stream mp3 I found the same.

When i got round to changing the headunit I found the aerial cable to be pretty much broken in the connector so needed re-fitting

@ryan-re

Thanks I'll give that some thought but I'm in no hurry to pull the dash apart just for Radio 2.

Hi,

I have similar with a bad FM/AM signal, seems like a loose connection as you say. How easy is the head unit to remove, in order to check the cable connection? Also could the issue be at the ariel end and if so how easy is it to access the cable connection to the ariel?

Thanks,

Dezza

the headunit is easy to get out. Pop off the surround and remove the 4 screws holding it in place.

The fakra connection can be a pain to take out the rocket on the headunit, I found mine by touching the pin sticking out from the fakra connection and seeing it was loose
