I was thinking of getting Skype when SWMBO moves to France, purely to chat to her.

Skype is probably the BEST thing in recent year. It saved me at least 500 pounds (if not 1000) in last few months. Mind you don't require those actual phone, 2 computers with internet connection is all you need. Using Mic and speakers is way more comfortable than holding a actual phone, and you can actually do something else while calling. However, someone told me that the quality of using skype to call line phone (e.g. BT line) is poor, loads of lagging, and not free.

But I don't want to be tied to the PC to talk, I can do that on MSN.

All it seems is a converter from USB to regular phone socket. Would then be able to plug in a normal wireless phone, or thats the theory. Only trouble would be the fact, you can't dial via the phone.

My Dad uses Skype phones for his inter buisness calls from his office at home, he wrked it out if hed done then same last year it would have saved loads.
