  • Yea think they 7 seats I did look but for a decent-ish one was too much , maybe I should get another Octy vrs, buy my car back cheap, cut it in half an use back end as a trailer sort thing for kids. .

  • what is the damage underneath?   tbh, if you can do the wok yourself, and have access to cheap paint/panels/parts then its possibly a dooer (subject to the shell integrity etc)   If you are paying

Unlucky, but despite your unfortunate situation, you can't sell anything without being a freedom member. :)

Sorry about the crash but you need to be a Freedom member to sell your stuff fella.

Hope you're ok. :)

My condolences, have you gone down the route of buying it back from insurance company and repairing it in your own time ? (assuming its not major structural body shell damage).

"Write off" is just a number crunching exercise ie cost of repair is greater than vehicle value). It doesnt always mean that the vehicle cannot be made road worthy again. Good luck with what ever you decide to do.

Sounds like it will be a cat "c" - you can usually buy it back from the insurance company, get it fixed yourself using second hand parts. It then has to go for a vic check (vehicle identification), and is marked on the logbook as damaged repaired. I have done this before, and it can be worthwhile if the damage isn't too extensive. Cars get written off for very little damage, just the cost of repairs are more than the vehicle is worth. New bumper, wing and headlight can be enough to have them written off.

Yea I did think about that. Just waiting for insurance to tel me what's what now. It did only have damage to wing . Side of bumper but thee wheel had bent out an garage said that's caused the worst damage.

Seems mad to me they just write em off like they do,

If it were mine I couldn't break my car just for that damage. It would break my heart! I'm sure that could be fixed for a couple of hundred quid. Wings, bumpers, maybe a hub or a shock. Steering racks not big problems them. It wouldn't even enter my mind.

I have all steering parts from that corner available, along with wing. Bumper is spoken for thoug.

i also have bumper, wing and steering parts, subframe, tie rods, driveshafts hubs...the lot really

never let them be scrapped, more often than not they can be fixed cheaply without issue

if its a cat d they don't even need the vic check

Well guy at garage who I know said to fix it would cost about same as I paid for car cos there's a lot of damage underneath ect,

I've never had a crash/claimed before , how do I get to buy it back and so they do a age report or out?

what is the damage underneath?

tbh, if you can do the wok yourself, and have access to cheap paint/panels/parts then its possibly a dooer (subject to the shell integrity etc)

If you are paying someone else to do all the work, and then another guy to do paint then its probably not a dooer.

Body shops are pricing for new parts plus paint and labour at top rates. So don't necessarily go on what they say as an estimate to repair unless you are getting the diy estimate rather than the usual bodyshop estimate. If its gotta go on a jig, its probably not gonna be cost effective to do either.

you need to ask your insurance to buy the car back, they allocate an amount for the scrap value which they take from your final payout so you can keep the car.

These have dropped a lot in value in the last 2 yrs, trust me, i have repaired and broken them before, and there isn't really any money in either now.

Look how many are for breaking at the mo in the classifieds.

Hi. I wouldn't be able to do it myself unfortunately , would be a garage. Not sure exactly what damage it is underneath he didn't go into detail.

(Wish I did mechanics after school ).

try and find out what damage there is exactly, we can help you work out what it will cost to repair better then and if its possible to do.

Are you horton78 on instagram? If so it only looked minor panel damage plus some suspension, all of which i bet is available from people breaking cars on here :)
