I am no mechanic but I've done a few things on my octavia like the dump valve coolant temp sensor air mass etc but I can't for the life of me find where the thermostat goes.

I've got the new one here have had it for a week now but need to know where the old one is?

Also is it recommended to just do a full engine flush and put fresh antifreeze in it while I'm there?

Standing in front of the car it's to the right-hand side of the engine under the mass of rubber vac pipes. You just need to slide a plastic clip forwards and it pulls out upwards. Don't do it when the engine is hot

Also be careful not to kink the O-ring when re-installing like I did, or the first time your car gets hot you will have a coolant fountain

Are you sure that's for the thermostat as that is where my coolant temperature sensor is which I have replaced.

I looked all round there and couldn't find it do I need to drain the system and take all the hoses off?

Thermostat is next to the alternator on the front of the engine. Not one of the easiest things to change
