Hi,   is there anyone in Dundee or Angus area who has VCDS ?   going to do a fuel filter change and for what I have read, need VCDS to prime the fuel system. Or has anyone done the filter change by filling the filter with fuel and chancing it ?

Mine has been changed twice and no issue.

Do get original, or in my case Bosch filter, it´s just old off and new in (use new O-Ring that comes with kit)

Yes their has been several who have complained about this, car won´t start, but they all have the same problem, filter.

The filter is the same as the 1.9 and 2.0 liter tdi

hi alberg,  so are you saying that I do not need VCDS if I fill the new filter in the housing, did car start ok? Just worried that I may damage fuel pump.

I have never used VCDS to prime the pump, turn the ignition on for a few seconds a few times and then fire her up, done 3 now without any issues.

from what I have read, turning on the ignition on 2010  models, does NOT operate the fuel pumps, needsprimed by vcds. Did you fill filter up with clean diesel?

The diesel in the housing was still clean, so once the old filter was removed and the new filter and seals were fitted there was very little that could have been topped up, so no I did not feel the need.

 

This was on a September 2010 (so MY11) car.

Thanks again, mine is October 2010 so should be same procedure as your's. I will do in early new year so hope all goes ok. I'm doing oil and filter change which is easy . Had a 2005 2.0 tdi elegance PD engine and did fuel filter on that no probs but was wary of any damge on this engine. Thanks anuway.

Hi all,   just an update on fuel filter change, done yesterday at 37,000 miles ,soaked new filter with clean diesel in a container and refitted into holder, fingers crossed, turned key and she started 1st time. Seems to be soother running now too.
