Some scummy so and so, obviously coming home for a drunken night out, decided to kick my wing mirror, smashing it into a few parts across the path! Luckily the mirror and plastic frame are fine and it all went back together but the painted cover is badly scratched and cracked. Does anyone know how much a Black Magic cover would be? Or do I need to get it painted? Merry Christmas Briskys!

I think the part is about £30 but you will need to get it painted. One of the Skoda accessory dealers list them for sale and quote a painted price which may be worthwhile as they will be liable if the paint is not good, where if you buy it and paint it or get it painted yourself, its gonna be down to you or the paintshop! My guess is many paintshops will also not really want to paint such a small item, where Skoda will basically be obliged. I will try to find the dealers name but I think it may be Bickerton's or similar. They have a parts list you can view and I think it includes painting prices too.

 

ADDITIONAL… I looked them up. www.skodaparts.com I think was their site address. They are quoting £25 approx for the part, discounted from about £30 and if you type in painting, where a part is asked for, they say they will paint your door caps, £60. I assume this is for a pair as it says caps but it may be per cap. This you will need to clarify for yourself but £60 a pair is fair. Perhaps they will offer a discount singularly but I doubt they will half it so the choice is get it done yourself, (I think you can also order the paint) pay the asking for just one or buy both sides, painted, and keep the spare good one as a back up or even ebay it!
