Simpsons ŠKODA have announced that they have acquired one of the European Rally Championship winning Fabia S2000s – one of the most successful rally cars of the Super 2000 era – and will be competing in a series of 8 events in a busy 2014 rally programme. An intense learning and testing programme will begin at Simpsons ŠKODA’s dealerships in December 2013, ahead of a competition debut in early 2014. Confirming the Fabia S2000 acquisition, Neil Simpson, Simpson ŠKODA’s Managing Director and ex-VW works rally driver, said: “It’s always been an ambition of mine to return to rallying and what better way to make a comeback after 12 years, than at the wheel of the incredible ŠKODA Fabia S2000? We’ve been very lucky to have had the opportunity to acquire such an iconic car and we’re really excited about learning all about some of the fantastic technology that comes with it. Being a ŠKODA, it also gives us the opportunity to promote our ŠKODA businesses in a unique way to a broad audience” Neil will be joined on the stages by experienced co-driver, Berwickshire’s Claire Mole. The first public appearance for the car will be at the NEC based Autosport International Show on the 9th January where it takes centre stage on the Pirelli Stand. The team’s first competitive outing of 2014 will the Blackpool based North West Stages on the 7th and 8th February. External support for the 2014 season will be provided by Leeds based motorsport insurance specialists, MIS Motorsport, tyre manufacturer Pirelli and mobile operating theatre suppliers, Medicell. The announcement follows another remarkable year for Simpsons ŠKODA which saw them pick up awards at the ŠKODA Retailer of the Year in the Used Car Retailer, Business Sales and Aftersales categories. Daily on-event reports and updates will be available throughout the season at http://www.simpsonsskoda.co.uk and http://facebook.com/simpsonsskodamotorsport
