Loss of power & black smoke.

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I'm new to this site so be gentle with me! I was about to embark on a trip up north on the M1 when I put my foot down & just heard a noise & sudden loss of power& black smoke. I feared the worst, but have been told it could just be ab exhaust valve. Has anyone got any ideas?

sounds like an air leak may be a turbo related pipe blown off   that's where to start

Bottom intercooler pipe has come off due to the crap design.  Slam some self tappers in there.

Take the plastic at the bottom of the car off, slide under and have a look on the fight hand side just in front of the wheel.

It could be any intercooler pipe, not just the bottom one that will come off! Ive had my top one pop off.

boost leak, could be any one of the intercooler pipes.  They're all crap.

This is very true, i was just suggesting this as i've fixed 3 of my mates Fabia's for the same reason in the last month, they were all bottom intercooler pipes.  i just assumed that it was a common fault with them due to rubbish system.

Well funny this thread popped up. And how I said its not always the bottom pipe... my bottom one popped off this evening. Weird coincidence if you ask me lol

Hubris Oakleyhopkins, hubris.

Every fitting has gone in mine at some stage or another from top to bottom.  As soon as the weather gets better I'll be hard piping it.
