Insurance time again - renewal actually no change

Well my quest continues :)

So I've "juggled" my renewal from Swiftcover.

Currently I have:

My previous excess was £200 compulsory & £0 voluntary. So I've changed that to £200 compulsory & £50 Voluntary

Kept on my policy:

Courtesy Car 21 days (so gives me a car for 21 days - so would give me something in the case of stolen/not-recovered or total loss

Protected NCD

Removed from my policy:

Legal Cover

Personal Accident Plus £50k - This was a pay-out in case of loss of limb etc. after a bad crash. Was adding a chunk to the policy. Anyone have any opinions on this option?

Still haven't added to my policy (so didn't have these before and haven't suddenly added them):

Breakdown (Still covered by Skoda Assist and actually plan on renewing that once my current agreement ends)

Wrong Fuel Cover

Lost Key cover

So I now have a renewal on the table for £272. Looking better

*Edit*

And then getting a quote from Axa (Swiftcover's parent company) using the same details as above, I get a quote of £248 (so assume Swift will probably match it). So sub £250, looking better still.

Which company are you insured with?

If that was aimed at me (the post above yours) - "2012 vRs CR DSG, 12K miles/annum, protected no-claim bonus and wife as named driver (she has yet to drive the car - scared of the DSG!).  10+ years no-claim and Gloucestershire post code.  No speeding convictions since 2002.  I pay £140 with £100 total excess - legal cover is an extra £18.50.  The joy (only one!) of being 67."

I am insured via Surety, the broker that runs the IAM insurance scheme.  The insurance policy is with Ageas Insurance.

Just adding my own conclusion.

I decided to keep the legal cover. If I have a non-fault accident and the worst case happens, so imagine I'm off work for extended periods of time etc. I'd like to think someone is going to sort all that out for me, sort the "uninsured costs". I asked over at PH and was surprised to see that of all the extras this is the one people do still pay for, so I'm keeping it.

My excess has increased slightly from £200 compulsory and £0 voluntary, so now I've got a £50 voluntary as that reduced the premium. Taking the voluntary any higher only made very minimal differences to the premium.

I'm still protecting the NCD - just seems sensible.

I've got the enhanced courtesy car which gives my 28 days of hire even in a stolen & not-recovered or total loss situation.

I have removed the personal accident cover.

So after all that, AXA offered me the best quote at £278.

I shall phone Swift on Monday and invite them to match the quote like-for-like where upon I'll either renew with them or allow the policy to expire on the 19th and purchase the AXA one.
