Ignition problem

Featured Replies

75bhp Elegance Greentec manual.

Very strange one-off event yesterday.

Went to pull car out the garage when this happened:

Put key in the ignition and turned as usual.

Starter sounded higher pitch (but not screeching) - like it was not quite fully engaged.

Engine did not fire.

Turned ignition off.

Tried again.

Ignition sounded higher pitch again, and the engine started to fire very lumpily, rocking the car quite a bit.

It did this for maybe 10-15 seconds and just as I was about to abort in case I broke something, the engine fully fired.

Engine ran sweetly and evenly.

Hmmm.

Turned engine off.

Waited 15 mins.

Tried again.

Fired first time.

Issue not repeated.

Thoughts/reasons/anyone else had this?

Erm, I had something similar but it just did not start, that was to do with the battery
