Which dump valve to fit to my mk1 vrs

Featured Replies

Any help with which valve to put on my mk1 vrs

Welcome to briskoda. Unless your planning on lots of tuning, the standard valve does a perfectly fine job. I think it still works well after a stage 1 remap.

I have read up on this also and not claiming to be an expert or as highly knowledgeable as other members on here, I believe that the standard one is fine until you go above a stage 1!? Even then depending on where you go to get it mapped they will recommend which one to go for.

Good luck and i'm sure i'll be corrected with evidence if i'm incorrect :hi:

Standard one will do fine,

If you want some noise fit an induction kit to it

The std one is fine. Only issue with these is that if car still on original one then they can fail with the internal diaphragm as are getting old. The new oem ones are better made and only around £30. They have by far a better seal than any aftermarket ones.

Thank you for all the info I have just had a stage one remap to take it 210bhp so as long as the factory will do the job am happy thanks

What mods have you done to get it to 210bhp?

A remap alone would do that usually.

Happy New Year LL! I thought stage 1 remap you're looking at 200bhp?? Only asking as looking at getting one very very soon:-D

Well, the FRS has a slightly different turbo so 210 should be achievable, however 200 is still a good figure and a big increase over stock.

Have a good one.

FRS?? I thought he is remapping a mk1 and that on a stage 1 closer to 200bhp is achievable? ?

Thanks

Think he means VRS....

The VRS is 180 BHP std and will map to around 210 with a good mapper for stage 1

The none VRS 1.8T is normally 150BHP std so maps to slightly less with a stage 1 and 200 BHP is about right for these.

Sorry, pesky autocorrect

Great news then. I'm waiting for r-tech to get back to me about speaking with them for a remap and was expecting 200bhp but now it's even more worth it for 210bhp.

With said thread then is it worth buying new oem dv or go for upgrade on it now? Car is 10years old!

Thanks. Wooo hooo

Depending on the car and the mapper im led to believe stage 1 could be anywhere between 200 and 215bhp? Altho 215 might be pushing it.

My octy is totally standard but if I can achieve 210 then I'll be happy. Will see what r-tech advise. You think the dv needs renewing or upgrading now if I'm going further in the future?

Thanks

Hi guys just been reading the replays. I was just wondering if it was best to put a new one on and I it is a vrs and the person who did the remap was very very good. Has done a few of my mates cars and never had a problem. If any one after the number or website for the person who remap my car just give me a shout. And it's now running 210bhp with no after market mods. The engine is very happy running that bhp as seat Leon Cupar fr run 225. And it's only done 78.000 tho so low millage

Thats low mileage on a mk1! Where abouts is the guy based who did your map?

Cheers

I dunno.... These people who dont use their cars :D

In regards to the valves.

The new oems tend to be fine

The question is however ...... How pretty do u want it :D

It's West Yorkshire tuning he does to mobile remapping as well great bloke had a good bit of banter as well

Your choice buddy really. no point changing it is not needed for now imo and just change later on.

The point was made that as these cars are getting on a bit the dv can fail certainly when pushed a little more. The older ones do not have as good diaphragm in them as the newer oem ones. Some folks have no issues at all, some folks just leave it to fail and replace, other folks  replace with a shinny one that gives more bling than performance effect. I replaced mine as i had custom stage 2 mapping that needed a stronger spring.  "yellow spring" in my forge

Regarding the DV buddy as per above really

Seat Leon cupra R are actually a slightly different engine in respect to bottom end toughened to take bigger power, although not really issue if just talking 210bhp , The VRS can take 270/280 in std engine easy and the Seat LCR well over 300, so got plenty to go yet.....

Really? Whats different? I think bottom end is the same, just different turbo, injectors and intercooler

210bhp is keen for stage 1 to say the least- i have stage 2 custom map from badger5 making 219.5bhp with all supporting mods

OEM valve is fine (and best) unless you go for big power

Mine has a Jbs custom code phase 1 209 bhp

You will probably only see the magic 210 if you have the car mapped to run higher octane fuel (Tesco Momentum or V Power).

As for R-tech they will let you know before they map if you need any new bits. A new DV isnt that expensive from Main Dealer.

710p is the latest revision i think.

219 stage 2 is seriously low I doubt that to be true as bill knows what he is doing unless your setup isn't great

210 is average on a stage 1 dependant on car condition

Yes a am engine is different has 20mm wrist pins
