Which dump valve to fit to my mk1 vrs

Featured Replies

Giving R-tech another call tomorrow as not got back to me yet! How dare they not work over New Years

I'll keep standard dv for now then and seek their advice on things to invest in regarding future mods for MORE POWEEERRRR

I'm assuming from reading the above threads that members have/do their own remaps??

Really? Whats different? I think bottom end is the same, just different turbo, injectors and intercooler

210bhp is keen for stage 1 to say the least- i have stage 2 custom map from badger5 making 219.5bhp with all supporting mods

OEM valve is fine (and best) unless you go for big power

You need a bit of education then sir....

It is not just turbo, injectors and a second intercooler, although fundamentally the engine look the same inside the LCR has larger wrist pins which make the engine a lot stronger.

As far as I recall here is a few examples that have changes across these engines  noted by the engine codes:

150 BHP (VW Golf) years 98-2000 AGU = k03 turbo - cable throttle - large port head - non vvt - 20mm wrist pins - map to 200bhp internals capable of upto 350 with good smooth map

150 BHP 1.8T's - AUM - k03s turbo - dbw - small port head - vvt - 19mm wrist pins - map to 230 ish - internals capable up to 300bhp (but 280 is safer)

180 BHP 1.8T's(VRS / Audi TT 180 / Golf Anniversary) - AUQ - exactly the same as aum but with light factory map(30bhp). Will map to typically the same as above.

Audi TT / S3 lumps with 210/225 BHP...

APX - APY - AMK - BAM are all k04 210 / 225 motors some vvt some not, the k04 motors have slightly lower compression so can run more boost. They have  the 20mm wrist pins so can take up to 350bhp - all are small ports heads

219 stage 2 is seriously low I doubt that to be true as bill knows what he is doing unless your setup isn't great

210 is average on a stage 1 dependant on car condition

Yes a am engine is different has 20mm wrist pins

Agree buddy

219 is well low these days for stage 2.

210 is common to see on a stage 1

It is more the torque on the stage 2 that is far greater also.

Not sure what you mean by that as we don't map out cars ourselves  but use the common / best mappers out there. unheard of mobile mappers are taking your car at you own risk.

top mappers used here are:

R-Tech

Shark

REVO

etc

ah fair play i thought that was the agu engine

220ish is what bill said was expected without ringing the neck of the turbo.

set up is fine imo

Mines running a generic shark stage one map but has all supporting mods to go stage two but never bothered and it is running 220bhp and 365nm or torque which i didnt think was to bad for a 12 year old vrs

You need a bit of education then sir....

to be fair, i didnt come across as i meant to there, what i meant was as far as strengthened bottom end was concerned i didnt realise the bam/amk engines had the larger wrist pins etc. i thought the differences were in the top end. the minor differences are endless as i found when going from an AUQ to an AUM, different sensors, connections etc. also didnt realise they used lower compression pistons.

350bhp safe on standard rods?? bigger wrist pins or not i think thats pushing it a bit personally

Yeah anything over 300 is risky but people have been running for years at 350+

Personally over 300 rods needed

Yeah small variations across the board funny that the 4x4octy was given the 20mm wrist pin engine!!

219 is no ringing it's neck when did he map it ??

Im running R-tech stage 1 at the moment, was mapped on bp ultimate to 205BHP, now on Vpower so maybe alittle higher, OP dont worry to much about bhp figures its the torque increase and just the drivability that puts the smile on your face!, not for long though im now going stage 2... I think its a disease you catch after going stage1 !!!!! :-/

just before christmas- thats on vpower aswell. to be fair i was expecting around 230ish but the torque increase over standard is nice.

car was running 183 bhp on standard map with supersize tip, pipercross induction, 3'' decat, pro alloy fmic

funny that the 4x4octy was given the 20mm wrist pin engine!!

AUM?

sorry for thread hi-jack

how long you been on your stage 1? What torque ratio you got? Going over to r-tech next week

Sweet :)

Sorry boys don't mean to hijack the thread but on the slightly deviated topic of remaps, are there any concerns about remapping an 80k mile engine?? 10 yr old motor, fsh, cam belt changed etc.

Cheers

nope mine has now covered 153k miles with it first being mapped at 110k.

Most mappers give car a heath check where possible for boost leaks , hoses tight etc .

How much is a remap for these from the above mentioned companies?

I'm looking to go straight for the jugular and stage 2 with mine.

I was going to take it to performance 3000 and have a guy called Matt riedy do it for 200 quid. He mapped my old mg zs tdi to 160bhp and 260ftlb with my supporting mods so he's pretty good..

By the way, any stage 2 goodies out there for sale please blokes??

Cheers

Ant

I know R-Tech Stage 1 is £250.

R tech stage 2 is £290 or £160 for returning customers
