Is this right ?

Featured Replies

I have been looking at replacing my current Superb with a Yeti.

I have been waiting ages for the brochure of the new model to be available and now you can download one I find that you cannot have a 170 CR 4x4 DSG L&K model. It only is available with the 140 CR 4x4 DSG.

You can have an Elegance in 170 CR form but when you spec it to L&K standard it is nearly £2K dearer.

(Roof, Columbus, Parking etc,)

Does anyone know the reason for this ?

Please don't suggest buy the 140 and chip it = insurance companies are getting wise to this and the increased premium on a "modified" car is not worth it.

Thanks

I haven't actually asked a dealer about an L&K 170 DSG and it is so that the SUK website (brochure, configurator etc) does indeed say that it isn't available.

Be warned though that there are a huge number of inaccuracies in SUK's information regarding standard equipment, certainly on the L&K.

This assumption is false. My Octavia is insured with a vast list of modifications for low 300s. Stop putting up with inflexible, greedy big mainstream insurers.

Ask a dealer.

Skoda UK aren't that good at up to date info.

Also I wouldn't buy and chip/map as it's still not as good as a 170 whole package (ie, smaller brakes possibly).  Plus you won't have any warranty concerns.

There's no sign that a 170 CR 4x4 DSG L&K model is being permitted by SUK. The situation may change of course but right now my understanding is that this model variant is not orderable. Dealers seem perplexed too FWIW but this does appear to be the present position.

What is so frustrating is that the Elegance can be ordered with the 170 Cr 4x4 and DSG - so its not technical, I recon it must be CO2 related (pushes it up another tax band)- it's just annoying you have to pay a significant premium to get it and forces you to begin to look elsewhere because when the car I want specs out at over 32K that's a lot of money for that type of car.
