Turbo replacement cost

Featured Replies

Hi Can anyone give me an idea of what a fair replacement cost is for a turbo?

Turbo has NOT blown, but has been noticeably noisier over the last few months. Car is on 88K

I have asked at my local Audi specialist but they were a bit vague. Most I could tie them down to was about 600 for the part and about 1000 fitted.

Thanks

Take your car to a local independent garage you trust. Get them to listen to it and diagnose it properly. If it does require a turbo then they can get it reconditioned at one of many places (I have posted a link below to guys I have used before, please ignore the review).

You could also ask the company I suggest for a price to recondition your unit before you go to the garage so you know how much it is going to cost.

Please also don't for get apart from the recon turbo you will need new oil & filter, gaskets, oil return pipe (as this sometimes gets damaged upon removal due to its make up) and possible some new studs / bolts / nuts.

Ask the garage for a fixed price quote and shop around.

Its a couple of hours work to remove the old unit and about 3 hours to re-fit. So allow a days labour.

I had mine removed re-furbished and re-fitted. I was without the car for a week. Cost was £ 600 all in.

As above find a decent independant. Search under GoodgarageScheme to see reviews of local independants.

£600 is very good, especially considering even the replacement turbo's fitted by Skoda main dealers are refurbished.

I recently had mine replaced (under warranty) by DM Keith where you are in York. The cost charged back to the warranty company was £1,400 inc. VAT.

Try the VAG specialist in York for a quote (Roger Holmes)...

Cheers all.

My local place is quoting £1400 for a major service and replacement turbo.

I love the car but it's too big a bill to keep it i think. I'm looking at leasing a new one instead.

My cost inc depreciation has been nearly 6k in the last 15 months.
