Remapping VRS on 97000 Miles

Featured Replies

Ive been thinking about getting my vrs remapped at the end of this month.

I was just wondering if their was anything I needed to do first as my car is on 97000 and dont want it to cause reliability issues. Any recommendations?

Just had a full service done on the car and has been well maintained.

Is the remap advisable or not?

Cheers

Joe

lol

97K is nothing.  Go for it.

As long as it's been looked after and serviced and there are no outstanding problems go for it, i did mine at 9 4k it's been fine 15k on.

Is the timing belt due any time soon? I mapped mine at about 115k I think and it's fine. Depending on the map you get you may get clutch slip if it's a aggressive map but you won't know until you map it. I'm running a high torque faboka map and my clutch is fine (touched wood) but at my milage and on the original clutch as far as I know I'm prepared to put one in

Miles is nothing worry about as long as the car is looked after right mine is on 114k and I am in the middle of fitting the gtb2260vk turbo :)

I had mine mapped to shark stage 1 at 116k. All was fine.

That sounds alright then, will be getting the map sometime at the end of this month or start of next. Cheers for the quick replies!

I'm in exactly the same boat. 110k. Original turbo and clutch. Cambelt done and looked after. Looking to stage 1 map it. Who comes recommended in and around bham?

Speak to Ant at AP automotive mate. I've never met a more helpful guy.

He is an authorised Shark performance dealer.

Cheers Jim.

Echo what others have said plus a few other bits but I am very OCD!

Carry out a full service (all filters and fluids)
If the cam belt and water pump haven’t been done for a while I’d probably get them done to be on the safe side. Just make sure it’s timed up properly as that will affect how well it runs, your mpg and what sort of power you will get.
Check the boost hoses, they are prone to leaking because of the crappy standard clips and adding more boost will make them more likely to go if they are already on their way. You can pikey mod them or get aftermarket.
Remove the EGR valve to see if it needs cleaning. If it’s gunked up chances are the inlet manifold is as well. Both can be removed and cleaned. Could also do the EGR delete if you fancy at the same.

Think that’s about it. Exhaust and de-cat don’t really give any more so not worth it in my opinion unless you don’t like the look of the standard back box lol.

TBH i would worry more about the chocolate KKK turbo dying, as the increased boost will make it work harder.

Obviously make sure no boost leaks before mapping

I wouldn't worry about the turbo they go when standard so if it's going to happen it will happen. Get it mapped and enjoy
