Skoda Fabia Comfort Windows not working properly.

Featured Replies

My driver's side window is rather reluctant to open then when I apply pressure to the button from a different angle, it will eventually open having tried different angles. The same is true when closing it. The passenger side windo seems to be developing the same problem. What might be wrong? And is there an easy way to rectify the problem? Thank you.

Do you mean the switch or the window itself? If its the switch it could be dodgy connection inside either try cleaning with electical contact cleaner or replace them, if its the window, has it popped out runner? Does the motor sound like its struggling? Could be motor on its way out.

No suggestions?

Oh...we passed in the ether. The window does seem to work properly with little noise once it/they get moving. I'm inclinded to say that it's a problem with the switch. Is it a big job to get to the inside of the switch? I don't want to make a problem worse than it is at the moment.

Any advice on how to get inside if it's a "dodgy connection inside either try cleaning with electical contact cleaner or replace them."

Just replace the switch, we've all had to do it by now.

Thanks. Do I need to take the door panel off?

Nope, just the armrest cover with the switches in it.

I took it off and I opened it up using a hexago 'screw-sriver' a nice neighbour with a computer repairs business lent me. There was no corrosion to be seen but it seemed a little wet/greasy. I cleaned it with a cotton bud and some alcohol and put it back in position. It's now working perfectly. :-)

Good stuff! Glad you got it cleaned and fixed for free.
