Estate boot cover catch broken

Featured Replies

Has anyone else had the catch to which to sliding cover clips into break? My car (4 months old) has only done 2400 miles and the cover has hardly been used yet the plastic lug has broken on one side. It is the catch in the rear wing and not on the sliding mechanism itself. Skoda say it may not be a warranty item which I find disturbing. I've got to travel 40 miles for them to look at it for them to decide and was wondering if the catch is is a weak design point.

Thanks

2 months and 2250 miles so far and no problems.

I personally think that it is a failure of the component cause you would have to try quite hard to break it.

I've now found out it is the spring mechanism that has pulled the plastic down and out of view. The parts manager says he has a new part in stock and this is the second time this has happened in two weeks so he will contact Skoda as to the possibility of a potential problem

Yep i've had a couple do that aswell, means the cover doesnt stay clipped in on one side when you pull it closed yeah?

Exactly. So there does seem to be a problem

Yeah, ive replaced the top side trim in the boot that houses the catch.

Next one I do ill send a report into Skoda about it so it highlights it for them.

Lummox, is it the spring mechanism that's the problem or the trim housing it? If its the latter, what exactly is the fault? Thanks

Im not 100% sure but I think it all comes as one bit. I will however check on that.
