Skoda Fabia 1.9 TDI Gearbox/Engine Mount

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Need some advice really...

I went my friends garage last night as my car developed weird clicking noise while parking (basically when on the very low gears like Reverse or 1st gear) and my wheel are turn but not on the full lock.

He ckecked the whole car for me and said that my Gearbox/Engine mount needs replacing as this is the port responsible for the clicking noise.

Can you please reccomend me any good brand as I rather spend more money on it the get good quality parts as I'm planning to modify my car slightly anyway. My car is Skoda Fabia 1.9 PD TDi 105ps (mapped to 140ps) and the engine code is BSW

The parts looks similar to below:

Also, as I'm planning to get the H&R RARB and Set of Weitec Coilovers are there any other bits you'd reccomend that I should replace...?

Like Dogbone Mount/Bushes...?

Any other suspenssion related bushes...???

Can you please if possible list the names as I don't really want to spend the money on the whole kits.

I'm not a mechanic and need some advice on these things...

Many thanks in advance, Matty

I believe the part you have pictured is commonly known as the "Dogbone" mount.

Quite common to replace on MK1 Fabias, especially the vRS (had mine done) but the standard part is inexpensive and it's quite a straightforward job. You definitely notice the difference once rectified as the engine/gearbox does not move as much as one with a worn mounting.

Thanks Lee...Is that the one located under the air filter box...? That's the one I've been told I need to replace...

I think there are two. The upper one (i.e. Gearbox side engine mount) or is it the lower pendulum mount (often refered to as a dogbone mount).

Me thinks I need the upper one but not sure and don'y want to order the wrong part. Mine's located under the Air Filter Box in the engine bay.

Very consfused now...The mechanic told me it's the part sitting under the Air Filter box but looks like the dogbone mount...

Spoke to the machanic today and I need to replace the dogbone mount. I was confused by the fact that when he was telling me about it he was showing me the mount under the air filter box and pointing few marks that my current dogbone mount made there.

It might be a daft question guys but which one would you recommend me buying:

this one from Bilstein:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skoda-Fabia-05-07-08-10-1-9-105bhp-TDi-PD-105-Febi-Rr-Gearbox-Mount-6Q0199851AP-/370925829071?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item565ce6fbcf

Or this one from Vibra Technics:

Thank you for your help.

The item on eBay appears to be a standard part, albeit made by a Bilstein subsidiary.

The Vibratechnics one states possible increased vibration in diesel powered Fabias but is likely to be more robust though I have not seen reports of "shelf-life" of the part by those who have one installed.

If your mods are going to be modest then it might be worth sticking with the standard part but otherwise go the whole hog!

Another one on this topic...is there any way for me to find out if I can actually keep my current dogbone and replace the bush only...? Some peeps say that this is possible but some say I need to buy the whole new part.

How can I find out...? Thank you. My engine code is BSW and it's a 2008 Skoda Fabia 1.9 TDi
