I recently fitted a SS FMIC to the Fabia but one problem I've come across is that the top pipe is in the way of the Headlight washer on the driver side and ive since had to delete it. 

I would prefer if it was there even though i dont use it.

 

Has anyone else come across this situation and what was your solution?

My headlight washers were completely removed

Although you may come unstuck at MOT time

Id prefer to have them working! :P

 

I may try run the piping downwards under the crash bar then back up to avoid getting in the way.

Or source a bumper from another Fabia without the headlight washers

I may well be wrong, but if he has washers he has xenons so no washers, no MOT.

You could, of course, retrofit halogens. It just seems a high price to pay for an FMIC that probably only actually does anything under extreme summer or track conditions.

[Edit]Just noticed the OP is in the Republic, so the specification of the original car may be different, as may the MOT type requirements. Certainly in the North he'd not pass an MOT.[/Edit]

I have passed loads without them

I know its stated on the MOT checkist that if they are fitted they must work. But i dont think its a test the MOT stations really care about checking.

You could fit a standard bumper without the washer covers and that would be legitimate and be sure to pass an mot

The OP is in Eire which I believe has a much stricter testing regime than us in the UK.

You will need your headlight washers to work for the NCT(MOT)test here in Ireland

If its similar wording to the uk mot test

It stipulates 'IF fitted' the have to work.

So if they aren't fitted they can't test them. So you could get hold of a non xenon front bumper.

Its a similar scenario to the bald spare tyre.

Bald spare tyre = fail

Remove tyre before test = pass.

Completely bonkers but thats the idiots we have to deal with

Haha I don't think the guys in the NCT knows how to get them to work.

The NCT doesn't bother me though I have two years on it!

I would just like them to work! Going to have a look see if I can get some extra pipe work to change the direction.

That certainly looks much clearer than the UK wording.

Just get a custom pipe made at a local exhaust place, simple.

Headlamp washers were available as an option without the Xenon headlights over here. I got them.

I see a black combi local to me with headlight washers and no xenons now that you mention it pd75. Maybe its yours!!
