Over Revving!!!

Featured Replies

When accelerating in 4th or 5th at around 2000rpm there is a noticiable revving of the engine, similar to a slipping clutch, before the revs drop back and the car then accelerates normally.

First noticed when towing and thought that the extra weight wmay have been the cause, but has now done same thing without

Any ideas what this can be. Octy 2 1.9 TDI 105bhp 13800 miles 7 months

Thanks

Your clutch is f**ked.

Definately not the clutch otherwise it would slip in all gears when accelerating from low revs. it only happens at around 2000 revs which is when the turbo kicks in

I've had a clutch go on one of my previous cars and it behaved in a similar way to yours, accept at a higher rpm as it was a normally aspirated 1.2 petrol engine with no torque.

i'd probably say clutch too, it first apeared when towing as thats when it is under most stress.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but your master cylinder has gone!

Had the same happen to my ocy 1.9 tdi and it took two trips to the dealer to sort it. This was at under 4000 miles.
