Depo smoked headlights, any good?

Featured Replies

Ive just got a 2007 fabia and have been looking at the depo smoked headlights for it.

Ive had depo lights in the past and the fit and seals havent been to good and ended up misting up etc.

What are people experiences with depo headlights? Are the worth the 90 odd quid they are going for or are they a waste of money? Also can the levelling motors be fitted into the headlight units easily?

Also, anyone with pics of the smoked units on a black vrs?

Spray your standard ones!

Whats involved? any links?

The reason I was thinking of buying a new set was that one of my lenses is dulling and shows up due to the chrome backing so think it may even still show up once sprayed?

Can you buy new genuine plastic outer lenses?

I had to replace a headlight a while ago as a stupid peasant hit and smashed it. I bought a Depo one as it was the cheapest around. I too wasn't very impressed by the quality of it. The spring clip had to be re-bent to secure the dipped bulb, and the indicator was very stiff. Also I'm sure the beam patten is much worse than the Original.

If you want 'smoked' ones, I'd imagine spaying them or fitting a film ie laminX will be far cheaper.

Yeah Depo have never been the best quality in my past experience hence I thought id ask

So if i sprayed mine whats the chances the lenses would still look different?

Think I may be best just to buy a single genuine light unless anyone knows if you can buy the lenses on there own?

Is it dull like gone yellow? You can re-polish them up!

Meguiars do a headlight restore kit. Halfords sell it and im sure you can get it online.

My friend used it on his Mrs Fabia lights which were terrible. They look like they've just come out the factory now. Well worth it in my opinion.

Comes with drill attachments and polishing compounds etc. It's very good. The results were outstanding.

As for splitting the lights to paint them, it's just a case of removing them and heating up with a hair dryer then the glass part will praise off it then spray, then hear up and stick them back together :)

2000 grit wet and dry, then Poorboys SSR 2 will bring them up nice then finish with some finishing polish.

Use lamin-x :)

thats what I did
