Chip in windscreen - what to do next?

Driving home today, I was behind a Merc (could have been any other car ;) )

Either way - had a fairly large distance between me & that car. Pretty annoyed about that now as had I been (too) close® the rock wouldn't have hit the middle of my windscreen :(

The guy kinda swerved off the main bit of the fast lane & went onto the less-than-clean bit next to the white line, where a little rock went flying from his rear tyre onto the windscreen.

What is the best thing to do next? Does the Skoda warranty cover windscreen repairs, or does that go via the AA?

I'm also in the RAC as it happens, so I can try them too I suppose?

I think the best thing is to call your insurance company. I had a chip on my Clio and used my insurance. I didn't lose my no-claims and didn't even have to quote it for this years premium. You will need to pay an excess, normally around the

Get it done ASAP. The longer it is left the less chance of a satisfactory repair. Once the dirt gets in it becomes difficult.

If you are fully comp most companies offer free repairs.

Your Skoda warranty wont cover it - most insurance poicies do have a free chip repair if you go to a specific screen co. You can get the screen changed if you cant live with the chip - a chip repair will not be invisible. As has been mentioned its a seprerate excess of about

Cool thanks, will dig out the paperwork. I'm 99% sure I'll have to get it sorted mobile as I'm at work 6..7 days a week at the moment and I don't wanna be doing car repair work during my only week off :D
