Vrs to Ibiza to ....................

Featured Replies

Well after 20 months ownership of my 2.0CR143 I have done a deal to trade it in for ............................. A Peugeot (cue reliability jokes!!!)

The new 208 GTI to be exact.

I had extended test drives of the Fiesta ST as well as the GTI and also did quite a bit of research online.

The fiesta I would say is the more focused (no pun intended) hot hatch but to be honest the quality and 'premium' feel of the GTI won me over (not to mention harking back to my teens drooling over the 205 GTI - Which we're not supposed to compare it too apparently!).

I got £2700 off the on the road price as well as a tank of petrol all of which meant I will be paying £7 more a month than the Ibiza (once Ive cancelled out some of the negative equity!)

The best ST price (3 yr PCP) I could get to with Ford was £30 a month more than the GTI (Which prob shows they don't need to discount as much) and the GTI just felt that bit more 'polished' as a product.

So ive git a white GTI with all the standard equipment (Blue tooth, Auto lights/wipers, rear Parking sensors, DAB Radio, Touch screen info system, Cruise control) and Heated Seats as an extra.

Looking at a 8 week build time (apparently).

Well just thought I'd gauge your thoughts and wondered if i'd still be welcome on the best forum (as ive now left the VW group)!

Who knows I may get a skoda courtesy car when the Peugeot breaks down!!!

awesome :) by all accounts as an every day drive the GTI has been reported as being a more rounded car, so it seems it fits the bill for you, would be interested to see pics and reviews etc, so keep the thread going :)

Will do.

First interesting point is whether the French are any better than the Czech's when it comes to build/delivery times!!!

I swapped from a Pug 207 to my Monte after a few years of Pugs, great diesel engines but the build quality was woeful.

The new 208s seem a lot better built quality wise than previous Pugs and the GTI looks great so providing they don't start falling apart after 2 years then good move, I'm sure they won't.

Enjoy the new motor when it comes.
