DSG oil - wait for service time or bang on 40k miles?

Featured Replies

So I'm 300 miles off of 40k my question is this - do I rush off and get the gearbox oil changed and service done early?

I have 140 days or 1000 odd miles left until I need a service according to the maxi - dot.

Any opinions? Thanks!

HI would get the dsg oil now then wait for the light for the rest .

Mine was done by the previous owner 2000 miles late and it doesn't seems to have effected it. Also there are other members on the forum who have not done the changes at the recommended intervals and have had no bother with the box.

If you can do without the car (for a day) or have have time to take it in and wait then get it done on time.

Personally I would wait until I was having both services done at the same time because I would probably cover 1000 miles in about 6 - 8 weeks so I would probably do one service ( DSG oil) a little late and one service a little early so I would only wait about 4 weeks anyway.

Hope this helps.

Unless the car is still under warranty, I wouldn't get too hung up about going a bit over on your DSG service interval . I have gone up to 200,000kms between DSG services and my box is still fine with 618,000kms on it!!!

I'm not suggesting you go as far as I did (it was a big gamble) but I don't think a couple of thousand miles is going to make any difference.

You should be OK to wait to get it done, maybe you could bring the service forward to get the DSG done at the same time.
