headlights decided to point right down ? :S

Featured Replies

Hi all. This morning on way to work I discovered my headlights have both decided to point down to the limmits of thir travel

Any ideas what it could be?

They are the auto leveling factory projector ones ???

possibly scan the car with vcds? not really sure how auto leveling works but I'm sure someone will come along that does.

Thats an idea :)

I dont know if there is a tilt kind of sensor or link to a suspension arm amd cba looking. Someone will have the answer. Or atleast point me near. So I know where to start lol

I know on my old 182 there was manual adjustment on the projecters on it as well as the auto leveling.

The reflector inside my offside xenon unit has come off the adjusters. It was pointing right at the floor. Today I've had the headlight out, removed the lens and managed to push the reflector back onto the adjusters. Just waiting for the sealant between lens & unit to go off a bit before reassembling.

On the Fabia there is a single level sensor attached to the rear suspension. The adjustment on the headlight housings is, I understand, meant to be used only when the auto level adjustment is disabled via the diagnostic interface. I'm guessing that sometimes people make the adjustments to the end of travel, so that the auto level adjustment stops working.

Related - if anybody can confirm the degree of headlight auto adjustment I'd be very interested. On our car there seems to be only a very small amount of travel, less than is needed to account for a heavy load in the boot. This is quite different from our Octavia which has a large amount of auto-adjustment travel.

Also, our Octavia dips and raises the headlight dipped beam when the car is started - this can be seen be turning on the headlights before turning on the ignition. Our Fabia doesn't do this, which I think might mean something isn't right ... If you have one, does yours have a large movement or not?
