so my pas has stoped working, it went at the weekend but you could feel it kick in mid-corner now it seems to be off all the time, checked my battery and low and behold its a 44ah. ive had the car (55 plate vrs) over a year and there are no warnings on the dash for battery or steering when the car is running. all the warning lights appear normally when the key is turned at start up. the windows work as fast as they always have so i would think the battery is ok so is it the pas angle sensor?

id say get the alternator tested and also check earth straps first

lights are bright, horn, blower, windows etc all work fine no problem starting - turns over with gusto - battery seems fine.

44Ah seems awfully small for a VRS, even my measly petrol engine has a 65Ah battery. Check voltages, under load the voltage may be dropping due to the battery size.

So removed battery and tray and removed the pas fluid cap and found I had zero fluid - put half a litre in reassembled and hey presto when started up steering was back. There is a funny brown dirty resadue on the off side steering rack gator near the track rod end so will keep an eye on it as it maybe where the fluid is going.

Might have a leaky rack.  I've had to change mine already.
