Paul Di Resta to drive in DTM with Mercedes in 2014

Featured Replies

Pleased to hear this, as F1 is really just a joke IMO

PS

But if there is a Reserve Roll for him in F1 with Mercedes, i will be watching.

Think it is F1's loss tbh. Better driver than a number that are still racing but didn't get results after the tyre switch. He was making a decent charge until that point as was Sutil so I think it was a car issue from that point that made them uncompetitive,

This year F1 will be different New engines and Red bull losing key personel. So you only watched because of a Scottish driver?

In the case of Force India - both Perez and Hulkenberg are "pay" drivers whereas Di Resta isn't, and with teams struggling for both cash and sponsorship taking these two on was inevitable. I don't necessarily agree with that approach but that is the world the sport lives in.

Lotus were probably the only team to consistently challenge Red Bull in 2013 and when a team like that is struggling for finance then something is wrong. One way or another the racing needs to be paid for, you can't race on fresh air.

THey need to address the fact that it is becoming increasingly expensive to run the cars - if they fix that so it stops the need for all the cash.

bluevrs2,

Not watching unless watching a driver i am interested in watching.

He does happen to have a Scottish accent and says what he thinks, and thinks what he wants to.

F1 being different, & different personnel, is not enough really sadly.

Personality infusions to many personnel is required really, IMO.

Less fixing of Enquires,

Zero Bernie input

& just something that is more relevant than what looks like a faster version of Karting.

Lost interest in F1 a long time ago - very samey and dominated by certain teams / individuals.  Same applies to Rallying recently as well but that looks like it is starting to change a bit.

Seems to be less relevance of technology in F1 to everyday driving as well...

I managed to catch the coverage of Rally Monte Carlo last night on ITV4.

Even though i am interested in it,

and want to watch more on the Cars and Technology,

the type of TV coverage we get in the UK  with maybe a 1 hour slot, and just some highlights is very hard to watch for that.

(With Poverty TV.)

Easier to get that Online and with the likes of Youtube.

As to watching F1 on poverty TV for which i buy a Licence, that is rather hit or miss, and can require several hours of trying

not to hear who was fastest in practice or who won a race before the British Broadcasting Corporation airs the event.

(That includes not hearing BBC Presenters or News Reader telling you the result on the Radio or TV before they get around  to Broadcasting Practice/Qualifying or the race on the telly.)

I must admit BBC sold its right to the devil (sky) and I like you hate it when the news blurts it out at ten in a morning ( not europe ) As I work many weekends I have taped highlights to be aired at two to have it ruined. The ban on testing was supposed to reduce costs but the top teams have simulators and spend more on cgd than the rest of the field together

F1's got boring, that's why I watch BTCC.

I watch both F1 and BTCC and will continue to watch both for the foreseeable future. Last year was great until the last few races, this year looks to be even better with loads of new tech and it puts everyone back to zero again. Can't wait to see what Magnussen at McLaren can do.

DTM I've found OK but again it's only highlights you get and with all the aero you still get the same issues as F1. They even have DRS and different compound tyres so they are more similar than most realise.
