What is loose on my shocks?

Featured Replies

Hi guys and greetings from snowy Sweden (The winter hasnt been nice on my 2005 Skoda Octavia Elegance sedan)

Alot of snow has been getting caught in my wheel wells and after letting the car stay in a garage over a day to let the snow melt i noticed that something hade come off from the rear right shock and was just dangling around (And making a lovely sound when getting above 60mph)

So my question is if you guys think it is a part of the rear bump stops or something else scary from the depths of my Skoda D:

Should i try fix it myself? And will hilarity ensue afterwards? :)

I have attached two pictures with the first one being the one with the loose part and the other one from the shock on the otherside (Rear right)

It looks like the rubber boot that covers the bump stop has split and the bottom part fallen down.

Although I didn't know the bump stops were supposed to be covered by a rubber seal! Might be a local market feature to help keep the snow out though...
