Xenonmatch/ led bulbs in vRS foglights?

Featured Replies

Anyone tried to change the front foglight bulbs in the Octavia vRS III? The original color is too yellow to match the xenon/led headlights. What kind of bulbs is it in the front foglights? Guess i can find out in the manual also, easy job to change these?

If like most other VAG, pull off the plastic surrounds and the fog light is held in by 3 screws.

Should tell/show you in the manual.

Strangely bulb types aren't listed in the O3 manual....

I'd expect them to be the same standard bulbs as other models.

Yes not shown in the current manual - only the standard fog lights.

Fogs are meant to be more yellow...

That`s not the question :giggle:

Well etka lists the bulb for cornering fogs 8WH as,

N 107 875 01 Halogen bulb H16-12v-19w.

I'm going into halfords this morning for a festoon bulb for my van. I'll see if they got equivalent there.

You probably will.

Halfords didn't have any bulbs with H16 fittings.

And didn't know what I was talking about. The internet is probably your best bet.

I'm almost certain that's not correct. Fogs have H8-12V-35W bulb...

Not in the vRS i think.

You're right. Overlooked it's about vRS's fogs...

Etka lists those bulbs for boot codes 8WD. 8WE. 8WR and 8WS.

I found some xenonmatch bulbs on the net Nokya H16 white ... but the seller doesn't ship my way :(

That`s not the question :giggle:

Maybe not but it is a fact that yellow light cuts through FOG better than any other colour, so changing the bulbs would result in poorer visabilty in fog which is not a good thing

You don`t have to worry. I order a set of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/181168072483 , cheap so i will at least give it a try.

Had a look at these, a bit worried about the length of them. Ordered a pair- they are worth a try also. http://www.ebay.de/itm/Nokya-H16-9009-5202-Arctic-White-Headlight-Bulbs-7000K-35w-Fog-S1-Pro-Halogen-/400646939906?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5d486b2502  They ship to Romania, CSM :)

Thank you very much !

No it isn't. It is a fact that yellow does NOT 'cut' through fog any better at all. The yellow light thing is a myth. Scientifically proven fact is that White is better. The yellow discussed is halogen versus LED, or Xenon. Not yellow light, just not as brilliantly white. Halogen looks whiter than tungsten. The fog lamps on many new cars are LED and are excellent (my partner's Evoque has LED fog lamps which are far more effective than my halogen ones!). What makes a fog lamp a fog lamp is the beam pattern. Simples. By all means pay someone to make yours yellow, but don't be fooled that this makes them better. It doesn't, burning your £notes ahead of the car will have the same effect, maybe better, and be the same waste of money.

Changed the foglight bulbs today. Its correct with H16, and i installed the ones from ledperf. Not a huge difference, but they are a bit whiter and match the leds a bit better:

No errors.
