Greenline and greentec

Featured Replies

Hey all,

Wondering if anyone can help me out with something. I'm about to bite the bullet and buy my FIRST EVER new car. My fabia is on its way out and its time for something new. I'm torn between the greenline and a SE greentec. Question is, whats the difference? I've also been told by skoda, and on their site, that I can't spec many of the options I want ( heated seats, different alloys) on the greenline?

Anyone who owns either car any input would be great!

Greenline is a diesel.

Greentec is a petrol usually.  edit: looks like they've added a diesel now!  it's just eco tweaks rather than a dedicated model.

Greenline is the most economical and traditionally has limited option choices.

The Greenline is more of a specific model (so not available with all options - some would increase the co2 category) but Greentec is a pack that gives you the stop/start and a few other things to reduce emissions on a 'normal' model. Even this might not save you enough to get your money back though. Are you considering a Rapid? If so, there is a model out now called SE Connect I think, with extra equipment like bigger alloys and sat nav for a few thousand less - about 13k for the petrol model. If you buy the SEAT Toledo (the same car made in the same factory but with different lights/bumpers) you get start/stop as standard on most models. I just picked up an ex demo Toledo for thousands less than new from SEAT Leicester to replace my Fabia and could't be happier. Good luck MIke and do get back if you have any more questions. Andy.

I've been looking at a Rapid SE 1.6 TDI greentec. Which has stop/start and energy recoup. All I can see with the greenline is that it has low rolling tyres. I've saw the connect but I need that engine and spec configuration.

I think you will have to do as they say - go for the SE greentec to spec the seats and alloys you want - they would push the greenline over 100g per km and so are not allowed. You won't lose much in fuel economy or tax. You can change the tyres but bigger alloys will still push fuel consumption and emissions up. Remember the Toledo has stop/start as standard and they are doing deals rigth now but be careful of being stung with higher interest rates than Skoda for total cost. I had a look on CarFile for the best dealer quote and Motorpoint have some cheap year old cars. I picked up an ex demo by trawling the used site on the official site. Good luck mate!! Andy

Ordered a Elegance 1.6 tdi greentec last night, with £600 alloys, 0 miles 14k. Excuse me but WINNING!

Good choice,

For info, the Greenline also has different longer gearing as well as the low rolling resistance tyres.

Congratulations! Sounds like a great deal and the elegance is very nice. Andy.
