Dash Board Light Flicker

Featured Replies

Hope someone can help with this one.  Noticed it a couple of times today.  Whilst driving today with my dashboard lights on they've flickerd on and off about 7 times.  Its a super fast flicker but driving me around the bend because it keeps drawing my attention away from the road.

Anyone have any ideas.

Thanks

Dodgy earth or PAS pump running when it shouldn't.

Dodgy earth where.  I suspected a dodgy earth.  What do you mean PAS pump running when it shouldn't.  I'm driving the car in a straight line so how would that cause a flicker.

One of the many earths under the bonnet, look at your inner wings and strut turrets, they're littered with earthing points.

When the steering angle sensor starts playing up it usually results in the PAS pump thinking you're steering even when you're not, hence running all the time.

Riteo. Thanks very much. I shall have a browse tomorrow.

Battery terminals could also benefit from a quick rub with wet and dry and a dab of copper slip. I had a very similar problem and this solved mine completely.

Might also be worth checking the panel rotary dimmer switch.

You what!!!

He means that wheely type button beside the light switch.

You what!!!

What Bazmcc said. Instrument panel dimmer switch next to headlight switch. They have been known to occasionally fail and cause dash light issues.
