Not had the privilege of a spin in a car with the 2.0T.I just can't get excited about a power plant that is going to give the new vRS an extra 2 mph over mine top speed and rocket the car to 60 say 0.4 seconds faster.Don't know what its like through the gears.Does the turbo kick in sooner? Is it a six speed box? Short ratios? Has anyone booted one in an Audi or the new golf GTI?

Varying reports on its tuning potential so I am slightly in the dark on that.Don't blame the chap asking about buying an old shape vRS for

Not sure what you were expecting TBH.... Nissan 350Z performance? Not for

apparently the GTi and new Leon FSiT perform much like a normally aspirated car and you cant really tell theres a turbo on them.

havent been in a FSiT powered car though but i agree it is a shame they havent tried to make the new vRS considerably quicker than the current shape.

i think they've totally missed a chance to tune it to something around 225bhp to make at least some sort of advance.

then again i did read somewhere that Skoda were not seen as a sporting brand by VAG and that only Audi and Seat would be producing cars with "real" sporting intension.

VW would be looked upon as an affordable luxury if you like and Skoda would be the (dare i say it) budget brand under the VAG umbrella.

how much of this philosophy has been pushed onto the Skoda big wigs i dont know though.

i suppose the vRS we are getting is better than no vRS at all... no offence to the non vRS owners out there btw.

I've been given a hard drive in the Octavia vRS. It is fast.

I've driven the new Golf. VERY fast. Much faster than the Octavia vRS 1.8T. You reach 100kmph before you can even think about it. Turbo kicks in at about 2000rpm. Very very quick, lots of torque too. I want one myself, I'll probably get that next year.
