Octy Mk1 lights on warning with vag-com

Featured Replies

My wife has a 2003 Octy Estate but she keeps leaving the lights on, is there a way to change the coding to make a beep when she opens the drivers door?  I had a look about the net and on here but can't find anything.

I have VDCS pro..

Thanks

What trim level is it? Does it bong if you don't do your seat belt up. Could be the buzzer is broke. My old 2003 mkI did buzz if you left the lights on.

It's an elegance trim, although the seatbelt never bonged, I actually had to change the seatbelt clip last week and the one that replaced it didn't have the wiring, so left it unplugged.

Any idea where the bonger is?

My old one was an elegance, so I would suspect your bonger is bust. I think it is in the cluster, but I might be wrong.

Ah now it makes sense, the cluster is busted, LHS display doesn't work, no trip computer cruise etc.. RHS trip resets every journey, so new clocks it is.  Are they are straight swap or is there coding involved?

The immobiliser is in the cluster. You can swap them over with VCDS provided you have SKCs for both clusters, otherwise you will need something like vag-tacho to extract the SKC from the clusters.

Obviously if you just swapped the engine won't run.

What's an SKC?  I have been looking at clusters on ebay, so would need to check if they come with those..

Vag-com also shows immobiliser errors,,

The SKC is a 4 digit code that came with the car on a plastic fob. Not the radio code though.

If you don't want to change the cluster due to it being complicated, a fairly competent auto electrician should be able to tap into the wire for the switched live in the ignition, the light switch power wire, and via relay trigger some kind of extra buzzer (that would need including)

Cluster swap would be a skoda garage only in my opinion, or a very reputable independent with all the coding gear.
