What size wheels...?

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a Skoda Octavia 1.6hdi se Estate 2012 and want to get a second set of alloys with winter tyres.

The official Skoda ones are almost £160 each just for the alloy, which is too expensive for me.

Looking online I could buy some including a decent set of winter tyres for a fractions of the  price of just skoda alloys, but I'm completely confused by exactly what size I should get.

I can put in the car details and they tell me my tyres should be 195 65 15 which corresponds to the current size on the car, but for the wheels I get asked to choose what widths, what offsets etc.

I tried phoning our local Skoda service dept and they were only able to quote the part no. for Skoda alloys but couldn't help with technical info re the wheel size I need.

I don't want anything fancy just something that will do the job so I can swap winter to summer myself without having to get the tyres changes twice a year.

Can anybody help?

Thanks

The details for standard 15" wheels are either width 6" and offset 47mm, or width - 61/2, offset 50mm.

Details taken from the Skoda TUV wheel/tyre document that you can find here

edit - sorry, link doesn't work any more    You'll just have to trust me on the sizes I read off the copy I downloaded :giggle:

Thanks Stuarted and JulieD.

I've been looking at My Tyres and when I put in the Octavia details they suggest a 15" wheel with an offset of 48mm and width of 6" is that close enough to the Skoda TUV wheel/tyre document to be ok without effecting speedo and / or insurance?

Thanks

That's just a 1mm difference in offset (in simple terms that's how far it sits within the arch) - you'll barely notice it.  If you use the same tyre size the speedo won't be affected at all.   As for insurance, I doubt it will make any difference but I would give them a call and tell them just to be sure.
