Squeaking when I change gear and when feathering the throttle on and off

Featured Replies

Hello all. My octavia 2 1.6 mpi seems to have developed a fault. When I change gear all the way up to 4th, I get a quick squeak when I apply power. Also if im in gear and feather the throttle on and off the same happens. Can anyone help me diagnose the problem? Car is booked in for Thursday but was hoping some wise people maybe able to help. Thanks for your time.

My 105PD has developed a squeaky whistle (not the usual hissing sound of a turbo spooling up) on the way up passing 2K rpm and a sighing sound coming off boost.

I've recently added some Redex diesel fuel system cleaner and feel I've probably just freed off a stuck turbo as although it did the book time for 0-60mph (12secs... shhhh!) it always felt flat but now seems to have a bit of a rush when boosting.

I haven't timed it again so can't say it's any quicker other than by feel.

Of course there could be turbo issues or just a bit of pipework that's developed a leak.

Does this sound similar?

MinMac thank you for the reply. But my car isn't a diesel nor doesn't have a turbo. So I can't see this as the problem. But thanks.

So had the car fixed today. It was a faulty rubber bush somewhere near the drive shaft. Well they haven't fixed it. Went to pick up my wife from work tonight and back came the squeek.

Would you say it's more of a chirp than a squeak?

I guess so, you could say its a chirp.

Are you sure it's not coming from the alternator pulley?

It could be. If I drive very carefully and accelerate slowly and change gear slowly I don't get the sound. Only if I pull away from the lights normaly do I get the sound, and if I have to let off the accelerator and then back on. It also seems to get less noticeable after very thing has warmed up. I will call Skoda again tomorrow see what they think it is. I will suggest your comment. Thanks

Ask them to check the freewheel pulley on the alternator is not solid.

Well the car has been in twice now for a check up, and parts changed like gear box mounts and engine mounts but the problem still exists. Driving me a little nuts now. Just called the garage again.
