Hi all - about time !

Featured Replies

It's time I introduced myself after lurking on and off around Briskoda for years. Can't believe I first registered here in 2007. That was my introduction to skoda and a 2007 demo MK2 Octavia vRS 2.0 tdi PD in Race Blue. After a test drive I had to buy it. All that torque that came in a mad surge was great, but which was totally spent by about 2250 revs was also strange.

Then one day in 09 on my way to the dealers for a service, passing by a BMW dealer, I saw an 320D 177bhp tdi coupe (E92 I think) in high spec with silver / red leather and looking great. That was exit stage left for Skoda and hello BMW forums. All was well until the winters of 2009 and 2010 when that RWD left me stranded twice and I knew she had to go before the next winter came.

In 2011 I traded her in for my current car, a new Skoda Yeti 170 4x4 Ambition (SE in UK) with some nice extras. At the time all my friends said I was mad but I can honestly say that it's the best car I have owned. Since then I have hardly seen a single night of hard frost - typical, almost wishing for a rough winter, but still I'm delighted I went for the 4wd version.

So here we are in 2014 giving admiring glances to the new MK3 Octavia vRS with that wonderful 184 ps engine and low co2. Sadly no 4x4 version. For me the jury is still out on the new Yeti 4wd - why not the same tdi engine as fitted to vRS.

Still not sure if a change now is worth the extra expence, only 28,000 kms on her yet and touch wood not a day of trouble. Ah! decisions - decisions.

Happy belated greetings to all from the Emerald Isle

Welcome :)
