Hairline crack in front windscreen

Featured Replies

Finishing off cleaning the car last weekend, when leathering off the windscreen, I noticed a straight 9" hairline crack on the windscreen on the passenger side about 3" below the roof line.

There is no obvious sign of impact of any type near the crack, you cannot feel it either on the outside or inside of the window, I just thought it was a spider web, cotten thread or water mark - but it is definitely there.

I was wondering whether this was due to either my accident causing a stress fracture a while back and I have just noticed it, hitting a pothole ( of which, sadly, there are many currently) or caused by a stone or equivalent.

It is nowhere near my line of sight, no one would notice it unless pointed out, but I now know it is there and it's driving me crazy - I like a "perfect" car.

Annoying as it is a heated screen too !

Anyone else seen this ?

U need a new windscreen.

U gona claim insurance?

Not sure if its relevant but I got a new heated screen to fix a leak under warranty in November and it took weeks for the dealer to get the screen in.

Likely a chip and the heated screen made it crack.

The thinnest end is where it started usually
