Check out This weeks Auto Express. There's a couple of pics of the new Octavia VRS. Engine is supposed to be the same as the Golf GTI ie 197 bhp, with a 170 bhp deisel to follow.

Personally I dont like the update, they could have done so much better. Perhaps it might look better in the flesh.

PS I'm not knocking the new VRS as I am already the proud owner of the older one.

Stop the press !!

Sat August 6th Scottish Daily Mail.

quote: "the fastest ever skoda goes on sale in time for christmas. the octavia vrs hatch has a 149mph top speed and does 0-62mph in 7.3 seconds. it has the 2.0 TFSI 200 brake horse-power turbo direct injection engine. its priced from around

Sorry for being a bit thick, but aren't those performance figures basically the same as the the old Vrs?

There are lots of details and photos (albeit sparse details) in the above thread.

Suffice it to say after waiting for ages for something special no one seems particularly excited about it on here.Bit of a damp squib as far as the enthusiasts go (from what I can guage from the response) understandable too.

Pants

Well come march next year I will probably getting rid of the old 05 octy but not buying the new one its just not got the same 'thing', but I think I will test drive one anyway just in case it grows on me ;-)
