Fabia pulls to one side

Featured Replies

Ive got a skoda fabia mark 1 2001 1.9 tdi, with over 100,000 on the clock. I am having this occurring problem where the steering wheel when stationery doesn't sit straight but sits at a slight angle and then when I put my foot down it loosens and straightens itself out whilst the car pulls to one side. I recently changed the wishbone and bush driver side and changed the front two tyres along with tracking.

Torque steer? Tracking is not quite right? Cambered roads?

Mine doe's this it pulls to the left. I would have to say tracking.

Get the tacking aligned and set first.

That gives you a baseline to work from, as you then know that to be correct.

At my local place the car goes up on a ramp for the tracking, so whilst it's up there ask if they can use a pry-bar to lever on the TCA to see if there's any play. Also ask them if they can see any obvious signs of deterioration in the bushes.

Tracking first, it will most likely fix the issue and the car will feel completely different

I take it the tyres are inflated to the correct pressures?

Tyres are inflated correctly, the place I went to must have done a **** job tracking. Can anyone recommend any good places where I can get the tracking done in birmingham?

Another thing that may cause an issue is if you're running different tyres on the same axle. Differences in rolling resistance can cause a pull to one side.

I had this on mine when I bought it. Sorted by getting the tracking done, and putting matching tyres on the car.

I had the same thing until I changed my tyres. They needed changing anyway, but I can presume it was torque steer, and the lack of grip on the front end.

Now I am happier to put my foot down a bit earlier as I have a lot more confidence in how the car will behave.

Sorry if it might be a stupid question but do I get the tyres changed first or get the tracking done? Also does anyone know of any good tracking places in birmingham

Tracking as it will be cheaper ;)

Most fast fit tyre places will do tracking as well. I'd ask them to take a look. I got my tracking done for free by saying I'd be back for tyres if it didn't sort it. Fair enough, I was back for a tyre the next day, as even though it was improved, it wasn't completed sorted with the tracking alone.
