Setup user Profile Problem

Featured Replies

When I switch my computer on everything is okay till I go to sign in. It will not accept my password, I have been into the system and removed the password. Now it comes on and just says cannot login, any ideas please. Thanks in advance.

thank you for that, but I cannot get by the login page, when I put my password in (unable to login) but if I go into safe mode and enter my password it opens up. I have tried to run defragmentation but failed, removed password when in administration, (safe mode) but even with no password I cannot proceed. If I remove the HD and put it in a carrier will I be able to do anything with it then. Thanks again.

What is the exact message and what version of Windows?

Sounds like a corrupt profile as above

The username is also case sensitive iirc.

So David isn't seen the same as david

Windows usernames are not case sensitive but passwords are, if you can get into safe mode then make a new account with admin prives, then log on using this account and rename your profile as suggested above. You should then be able to log on and the system will make you a new profile, you can then hopefully copy your docs etc. out of the old profile to your new one.

I have tried reseting the passwords no joy there. No matter what I do or change I still cannot logon, think it needs a bit more interlect than I, ve got. Thank you for all your inputs.

When I had an issue in vista I copied the profile and Windows seemed to repair the new copy
