Fuel filter, 1.4TDI

Featured Replies

Hi folks, long time no post....

Thanks to the Missus mistaking green for black at the fuel pump, we had to have the tank drained and purged last night.

Luckily she drove less than a mile before realising, and the chap doing the work reckoned we'd be fine brimming it and running it through, with no need to swap the filter.

After Googling, given the cost of the filter though, I'm thinking swap for peace of mind.

Just curious, I've checked in the Haynes manual and this seems a straighforward enough job - or is Mr H being his usual over-generous self?!  Anything I need to worry about?

Not worth the time or hassle.  A full tank of diesel will flush it through and it'll be back to normal within a couple of minutes of running.

Cheers mate, it was lumpy for about 30s then back to normal.  Brimmed the tank to run it through, just thinking more belt and braces really.

Cheers for that!
