Editing a video that is on a DVD?

Featured Replies

Ok, I need some help. I have just had some camcorder footage burnt on to a DVD by a friend. What I now want to do is convert the DVD footage into a PC format and edit the file i.e. chop sections out.

Is there any decent freeware software I can download to do this?

Thanks

You'll need something like dvd2avi frameserver. It will allow you to read the video vob files from the DVD as if they were AVI files for editing.

As Chris said, dvdrhelp is a very good place. I find the guides on www.doom9.org are very good too :)

Thanks for the info guys. I have so far managed to rip the VOB file off the DVD using DVD Decrypter and I am now editing it using MPEG Video Wizard. Once I've finished that I've just got to work out how to convert it to a format so that I can post it on my website and email it to some friends.

Cheers guys

Once you have converted it, load it into windows movie maker and convert it to a standard avi using a high compression ratio to keep the filesize down.
