Breather pipe failure?

Featured Replies

I have the 1.8t20v and have a couple of running problems,

Firstly a very rough start up

A flat spot around 2k rpm and finally limp home mode if i drive too enthusiastically.

Ive had a good look at the engine and the only stand out suspect is the top 'y' breather pipe. Particularly the join between pipe and rocker ( the pipe is also extremely soft)

The car was put on vagcom the other day and showed no errors despite suffering all symptoms prior to the scan.

At first my suspicions were my forge split r, i changed back to standard and at first thought it was better but now with my standard bosch re fitted it seems to continue to get worse by the day.

Im ordering a new 'y' pipe, but is there anything else i should consider?

Anyone have experience of vac problems on the 1.8t?

Just had a quick look and the lower (plastic) breather pipe seems in tact externally but rather clogged inside. Any tips for cleaning or is it at a point where it should be replaced?

The upper y pipe has deposits but no where near the shown lower pipe
