Columbus Maps & POIs - Few questions

Featured Replies

First, unit details

PART NO. 3T0035686C

SW VERSION. 5238

MAP VERSION HDD. 7918

Question 1.

I think there are upgrades for firmware and maps available - is that so - if so where can I obtain them ?

Question 2.

When importing personal POIs there is a "notify" button shown briefly as the POIs are imported - what is this supposed to do. Does anyone know if you can get warning sounds from Columbus for certain POIs ?

Question 3.

Is it possible to increase the number of POI sets that can be displayed - at present I can only select 10 sets.

Thanks

The latest SW (firmware) is 5270 but you wouldn't gain anything so I wouldn't bother. The latest map version is v10 (8048) so I would upgrade your v9 (7918) ones.

Thanks Chris, I will have a look round

We do not allow discussions on how to get the maps illegally as such I have edited several previous posts.

The only official place to get the maps upgraded is the dealer, any other other source will be an illegal copy of the disc.

I appreciate your position mannyo, I just wish the dealers were up to the task. Only the other day a dealer told someone with version 8 maps that there were no updates which is clearly wrong.

Every electronic device you buy these days - computers, cameras, mobile phones, satnavs, TV set-top-boxes, mp3 players, the list is almost endless - expect you to obtain updates via The Internet.

Can't you use your influence to ask VW Group to allow users access to a legitimate database for updates? This would stop the 'illegitimate' business overnight.
