Blackvue Users - Check your ends!...

Featured Replies

And after that, check the plugs on your blackvue. Ensure the plastic cylinder piece inside the plug end is secure - This keeps the middle bit (the power) from touching the outside (the earth) - This piece fell out of mine and caused a mini meltdown culminating in the ultimate blowing of fuse 10 (probably a good thing it did....) and a re-wiring of the blackvue needed.

Just check your plug is intact before plugging in!

I was right then. :)

Make sure the end of the power lead is OK.

If you abuse the plug/pin that goes into the Blackvue the little plastic seperator can come out that keeps the positive and negative parts from touching and shorting out.

Yup - and when my mechanic went to test the rear blackvue to check which was positive and earth in the plug, the plastic bit came out of that one too.

This happened to me also, whole car filled with smoke very quickly while I was driving along. Not good!

Had to get a new lead from Blackvue. Also it would be best to wire the system into a fuse which will give out very fast in the event of 'meltdown'!

Thanks for the heads up, I'll keep an eye on mine.

Just a quick revival, did you contact Blackvue about this? I wondered if they sent you a new lead FOC.
