vrs throttle body allignment...

Featured Replies

its not a problem persayy,, but have read that if a cars ecu has been removed (mine has when i tried that revo ecu week before last),, or battery has been disconnected (mine also has when i changed ecu's over)....

that throttle body allignment has to be reperformed so that the throttle body can re learn its positions i.e,, idle, partial and WOT....

and the reason i ask is simple really,, if i hold throttle at partial it accelerates, hits 3k and boost and wheels light up... yet if i try to give it a bootful, car sort of holds back if that makes sense..?...

im not overly bothered as in major issue because i can drive it and it goes like the clappers but did a search and this came up about T.B allignment and the reasons why it should be performed

help/advice welcomed

Never had this issue mate and battery has been swapped on mine also, was fine before and after.

After a few drives it will have completely sorted itself out. People make a big deal out of this, but in reality, it isn't one.

As stated above, the ECU will adapt the throttle body over a few driving cycles.

hmmm,, maybey im looking at a different issue then

going to try cleaning maf and throttle body then, and a.i.t sensor and go from there

Is your car mapped?

Is your car mapped?

yes bud, just been done

It's worth doing a throttle body clean just for peace of mind, but your description doesn't sound like classic dirty TB symptoms to me.

I think it could be an issue with the map settings for throttle response.

who mapped the car?

and was the issue there before it was mapped

Dave did it off here.. flashed on in front of me

I'm not saying throttle body is dirty (it may well be), but I'm thinking throttle body alignment because I have changed ecu found it didn't work then changed mine back in... plus with decat the car kept throwing eml so I was resetting it every 50-80miles by disconnecting battery...

Since the map, eml hasn't come back on

The ECU will self align the TB over a few driving cycles. VCDS TB alignment just does the same process in a few seconds.

If you want you can disconnect the TB, reconnect it turn the ignition on & you should hear the TB whistling, wait for it to stop whistling & start the engine. Go for a drive using several different throttle positions including WOT, & the TB will fully align over a few driving cycles.

I  fancy doing that because if it doesn't self align then am buggered till I can get someone with vcds

If it was out of alignment, it would run like utter crap,on idle, I've disconnected mine before and it hasn't needed aligning, as said above it's not that big a deal, the car will adjust itself.

Just re-read the OP, Did you fit the fuel pump after or change the filter ??

Hello stranger haha

Yeah I did change fuel filter, did seem a little clogged.. But made no difference really.. if I hold partial throttle from 2k and it builds to 3k she hits boost and goes like buggery... But if I try wot it misbehaves wired lol

I'm thinking I need a 4bar pump for sure

It idles fine and drives great unless I try to give it full throttle... if I build the throttle up she's better
